“How do all those things work together?!”
In summary, you could say there are three strands to my work that are all connected, art -making via creative curiosities, embodiment explorations and care (self + community).
My practice is interested in and inspired by a variety of interconnected curiosities including: embodied artmaking, creative living for everyday, inquisitive reframings of “productivity”, synching with nature, inclusive and accessible ways to feel better (“wellbeing” if you like with emphasis on the Being!), inspiration, pleasure, identity, and explorations of ways we can feel free as our whole selves.
I find writing bios a struggle as they tend to require neat labelings and titles that sometimes feel like an uncomfortable shoe, and although one could define me as an artist, and/or writer, and/or an embodiment facilitator, yoga + movement + meditation teacher, and/or a dj/sound designer, and/ or a curator, and/or a creative producer and/or a creative coach/mentor etc. i tend to like to invite people to engage with my work and offerings and connect with what resonates (and leave the rest) rather than tell them how they should receive it via the category i give them. My hope is this can invite more space for exploration and connection - combining mediums, methods and focus on the intention, sensation and message. This feels more liberating to me, for us, somehow. You can read more about this here (i’ve always hated writing bios). And i talk about it a fair amount in my podcast.
…i think some of my “rebellion” to adhere to one “box” is to reject the call to conform to the limited idea that there is only being one way of being, and instead truly celebrate the idea that everything is connected. I believe it!
-Oh and i recognise the world we live in tends to call for labels, and also appreciate definitions can sometimes help us to understand the world in ways, and also, i’m very much into language as liberation, so i'm not anti labels - i just find it challenging darling (and a bit boring tbh) to reel off titles and would rather be chewing the cud of what's interesting, like,
how can we reduce tension and create more space for ease, rest and freedom?
and,
how can we imagine new ways of being in this world?
and,
can we create what we have dreamed and imagined with the tools we have right now?
My approach to making embodied art projects tends to be bathing in intention (hope this word doesn’t make you cringe so feel free to replace with purpose if slightly less eyerolly) - and asking questions like,
what are we doing?
why?
how?
for what reason? (yes that was an Eartha Kitt voice)
can we explore?
what's interesting?
what isn't?
how does it feel?
Then, in that process, intuitively gravitate towards the medium to best express that, be it through writing, sound art, music, movement, a conversation, an installation, a communion with nature's wisdom, a film, a moodboard, a costume, a combination of a number of things, whatever works, baybee! (please read ‘baybee’ in the Al Pacino Heat voice)
I guess i'm led by the feeling of the thing that wants to come through. I hope this doesn't sound pretentious, just an earnestly honest explanation and antidote to the need to feel confined by expectations or labels ever put on us! (do you! always, all ways!)
….But i get it, you're here to learn "about me" so
here's some pointers which could be useful.
here are 12 principles that inspire my approach (to everything!)
My journey to self care + empowering others to make their own rules
A couple of times a month i send out the Digest 💌, where i curate and share enquiries, tools, resources and useful things to do with creativity, reframing productivity plus the inspiration station. It's probably the best place to stay in touch.
The featured inspiration station has been going for over 12 years, a curation of good things found on my rummages. Some are collected on the blog too, find an example here.
I also have a Patreon portal where i gather with community and share things i don’t share elsewhere, like exclusive videos, live events as well as socials plus early access to youtube videos and podcasts.
It helps keep the majority of my work free and for the people, cause accessibility is important to me. As is sustainability, you know?Otherwise, feel free to look at my Portfolio and projects to get a gist of how we might work together, or feel welcome to enjoy my podcast i Feel For You, my radio show FEELINGS, blog, my youtube channel where i share yoga, movement, meditation, breathwork and somatic exploration practices. Oh and i’m a creative coach supporting human beings to remember who they are, in all their magnificent weirdo glory! ✨
Where are you though?
I'm currently based between the UK (south coast- yo!) and Norway via the Caribbean. I run crossover art-creativity-embodiment-community installations, events, retreats, programmes and experiences in both countries and beyond (thank you, internet!) as well as working one to one and in groups with my clients all over the world. Life is a bit of a mixup. I like to embrace that.
